biography

Matthew Briggs was born March 4th, 1978 to a loving family in a small town just outside of Peoria, Illinois. He is an aspiring filmmaker, and currently a graduate student and teaching assistant at Northern Illinois University. Matt has taken a long and winding path to finally end up at NIU. He attended Illinois Central College where he recieved his Associate's degree in Architecture, before going on and working in the telephone business for Verizon and AT&T.

I lived in Durham, North Carolina for two years while my wife attended graduate school, and loved every minute of it. Upon her graduation we moved back to Illinois and settled in Rockford. I recieved my undergraduate degree in December of 2008 from Northern Illinois University and went back in August of 2009 to get my Master's degree.

I love the outdoors, and doing things outdoors, especially high adventure activities. I have been known to go skiing, white water rafting, rock climbing and rapelling, scuba diving and mountain biking.

I try to spend as much time as possible with my wife Amanda, and my little son, Colin. They are a great and supportive family for everything that I do. I also have a retired racing greyhound, Shiner.

My passion at the moment is documentaries. I am always having new ideas for documentaries, and am currently in production on a long, feature length documentary on the greyhound racing industry in America.
